Title | Why is the unemployment rate low in Korea? |
---|---|
Date | 2015-12-15 |
The share of persons engaged in agriculture, forestry and fishery (AFF), self-employed persons, and unpaid family workers is relatively high in Korea compared to other countries such as the US and Canada. Persons engaged in AFF tend to standby instead of seeking job during off-season. Self-employed persons and unpaid family workers when no longer employed tend to drift to the economically inactive population rather than seeking other jobs. These are the reasons why the unemployment rate is low in Korea. ※ Economically inactive population Population of age 15 and older who are neither employed nor unemployed. |
