○ The life expectancy at birth for Koreans stood at 81.4 years in 2012, which went up by 0.2 year from 2011. The life expectancy at birth for males and females stood at 77.9 years and 84.6 years, respectively. ○ In 2012, the probability of dying from cerebrovascular diseases and suicides marked a drop compared to 2011. The probability of dying from pneumonia marked a rise compared to 2011. ○ In 2012, the life expectancy of Korean males was 0.6 year longer than the average of OECD member countries (77.3 years). The life expectancy of Korean females was 1.9 years longer than the average of OECD member countries (82.8 years). ○ The life expectancy excluding the disease period was 65.2 years for males born in 2012. The life expectancy excluding the disease period was 66.7 years for females born in 2012. The subjective health life expectancy was 66.8 years for males born in 2012.
