Population projection

Definition
  • After correcting error-prone data or no data of the Population and Housing Census, the population is projected by reflecting Vital Statistics and International Migration data, converting the Census population data (as of November 1) to the mid-year population (July 1), and setting the reference population as basic point for projection.
  • Afterwards, population projections reflect the recent trend of factors changing a population (birth, death, international migration, etc.) to estimate the future population size and structure through the Cohort component method.
Commentary
  • Estimates of the future population size and age structure, projected based on assumptions by factors that may change a population (birth, death, migration)
