Definition	Statistics compiled to identify the short term production trends of domestic production activities. It is compiled by surveying monthly performances in mining, manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and water supply industries(Monthly Survey of Mining and Manufacturing, conducted by Statistics Korea).
Commentary	Korea's index of industrial production is compiled by using the Laspeyres formula where quantities and weights are fixed at the base period. Base period quantities and weights are revised every 5 years.
