As of November 1st, 2022, the population of South Korea was 51.69 million persons, which decreased by 0.1% (-46 thousand persons) from 2021.

[Household]

In 2022, the number of households totaled 22.38 million households, increasing by 1.6% (360 thousand households) from 2021.

[Housing]

In 2022, the number of housing units totaled 19.16 million units, rising by 1.8% (344 thousand units) compared to 2021.

[1-person households]

In 2022, 1-person households marked 7.50 million households (34.5%), rising by 4.7% from 2021.

[Elderly population]

In 2022, the elderly population aged 65 or more recorded 9.05 million persons, rising by 4.9% (426 thousand persons) from 2021.

[Multi-cultural households]

In 2022, the multi-cultural households amounted to 399 thousand households, rising by 3.7% (14 thousand households) from 2021.
