|Title||KOSTAT attended the 13th OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy|
□ The delegation of KOSTAT (lead by Director General Changsang Cho) attended the 13th Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy (CSSP) of the OECD held in the OECD Conference Center in Paris, France, between April 25th and the 26th in 2016.
□ (Background) Gathering the chief statisticians of the OECD’s 35 member states, as well as international and regional organizations, the CSSP provides a platform for discussing key global issues, directions and policy measures for statistical modernization, plans and implementations of its agendas, etc.
□ Recently, the scope of CSSP’s agenda has expanded to reach beyond statistical issues and into those of policies. Considering the decentralized statistical system in Korea, an ever closer and proactive cooperation between KOSTAT and relevant government departments will be required to address CSSP’s agenda in the future.
□ A continued effort in monitoring statistical data and their uses will also be needed as these policy agendas entail the broadening of international comparative analyses.
□ The members discussed the following agendas in the 13th CSSP: the OECD’s strategy for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, global relations strategy, implementation of the OECD Council Recommendation on Good Statistical Practice and global statistical issues e.g. the improvement of migration statistics, digitalization of economics and GDP, measurement of inequality in health, implementing the SEEA* and regaining trust in the public sector.
