□ Project Background
○ With the implementation of the SDGs, developing countries face growing demands to produce abroad range of indicators and
related-data.
○ Despite its efforts to build a variety of infrastructure for national statisticsproduction, Laos is not capable of efficiently producing data and
providing services, andlacks in required statistical human resources.
○ Laos requested that KOSTAT support a project for establishing an effective service systemfor producing key indicators and related data
and strengthening statistical capacity. (Afeasibility study was conducted in February 2016)
(2017) Establishment of national statistical development strategy (2018-2028)
(2018) Enhancement of statistical human capacity and dissemination of IT equipment
(2019) Establishment of statistical database system and statistical information service system
(2020) Establishment of statistical data collection system (CAPI)
□ Project Objective
○ To advance Lao’s statistical services by establishing statistical database management and service systems
□ Project Scope(Development of system)
○ Establishment of statistical database management system and statistical information service system
- Statistical database management system
- Statistical database service system
- Statistical database query system
- Establishment of statistical index service system
- Visualized content, etc.
○ Provision of equipment
- Provision of equipment including server and software required for establishing statistical database system and statistical information
service system
○ Dispatch of Korean experts (three weeks, four times)
- Local due diligence
- Consulting service for statistical database system and identification of requests from Laos
- Equipment installation, system establishment, and training for statistical database system operators
- Interim monitoring of the Laos statistical capacity strengthening project (2017-2018)
- Support for statistical database system operation
○ Invitational training in Korea
- Technical training for system operators (5 people / 14 days)
