1. Internal Migration □ The number of internal migrants was 640 thousand persons in January 2011, which rose by 1.4 percent (9 thousand persons) from January 2010. □ The intra-province and inter-province migrants occupied 66.3 percent and 33.7 percent of the total internal migrants in January 2011, respectively. The proportion of intra-province migrants grew 1.0%p year-on-year. □ The internal migration rate (the number of migrants per 100 population) stood at 1.28 percent, up 0.01%p year-on-year. 2. Internal Migration by Metropolitan City and Province □ As for the net migration (in-migration - out-migration), 9 metropolitan cities and provinces marked the net out-migration, while the other 7 metropolitan cities and provinces marked the net in-migration. Seoul, Busan and Jeonnam recorded the net out-migration of 4,324 persons, 1,972 persons and 1,808 persons, respectively. Gyeonggi, Incheon and Gwangju recorded the net in-migration of 8,220 people, 1,657 people and 961 people, respectively. □ As for the net migration rate, Jeonnam, Gangwon and Gyeongbuk stood at -0.10 percent, -0.08 percent and -0.07 percent, respectively. These regions recorded the net out-migration. Gyeonggi, Gwangju and Incheon stood at 0.07 percent, 0.07 percent and 0.06 percent, respectively.
