Definition	Total research and development cost incurred over the past year in developing new products and technologies
Commentary	Refers to selling expenses on manufacturing cost statements and income statements, ordinary development expenses, research expenses on management expenses, acquisitions of land and equipments related to technology research and development from the balance sheet. Research and development cost includes all necessary costs of research and development activities and the labor cost of employees dedicated to research and development. In the case of outsourcing research and development activities to a third party, it also includes such an outsourcing expenses. In such a case, it not only includes selling expenses and management expenses but also amounts on manufacturing cost statements.
