A chronic disease is one that lasts for a long time, usually at least six months or one year and contrasts with acute diseases (a social survey of local governments etc).
The four main types of noncommunicable diseases are cardiovascular diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.
Commentary
Refers to noncommunicable diseases which are not passed from person to person and have a long duration of illness and a slow progression.
