Composite index of business indicators (CI)

Definition
  • A type of business indicator designed to be able to measure the situation/turning point and speed/amplitude of the business cycle
Commentary
  • Compiled and aggregated by selecting economic indicators which are representative of each sectors from the national economy and responsive to business cycle. It is further differentiated by a composite index of leading indicators, a composite index of coincident indicators and a composite index of lagging indicators.
  • The composite index of leading indicators gives an indication of future business cycle. The composite index of coincident indicators describes the current status of business cycle and the composite index of lagging indicators retrospectively affirms the fluctuations of business cycle.
