- The ratio is a quantitative indicator expressing shortage or abundance of housing inventory in a certain region or country compared to the number of households in the same region or country.
- Number of ordinary households: Defined as the number of normal households including households composed of members not related by blood and single-person households.
- Number of housing units: Includes each housing unit in a multi-family house and empty houses.
